Calling 911

All of Will County is covered by an Emergency 911 system. In an emergency, always dial 911. Trained and experience telecommunicators are on staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to answer your call. They will dispatch the appropriate emergency responders to your location within seconds. Whether you need assistance from police, fire, or emergency medical technicians, 911 is your answer in a time of crisis.

Cellular phone service and 911

911 is operational within the cellular phone network of Will County. The person answering the phone is a trained telecommunicator. Technology is not presently available, however, to pinpoint the exact location of your call. Therefore, you will be asked to state your location and then will be connected to the appropriate emergency responders. For a police, fire, or ambulance emergency from a cellular phone, dial 911.

Non-Emergency calls

We understand that there are many situations that require a response from your police or fire departments and yet do not meet the criteria of being an emergency. In these cases, we request that you utilize some of our non-emergency numbers. For Joliet Police non-emergency, call 726-2491. For Joliet Fire non-emergency, call 726-2401.

Hearing impaired calls

All of the above listed numbers are equipped with telecommunication devices for the deaf (TDD). If you are deaf, we are well prepared to address your needs.
