Multiple Family Housing Crime Data Comparison

The City of Joliet Police Department recently completed a statistical analysis of reported violent crime data for the years 2000 through 2013 for multiple, densely populated housing complexes in the city. The study included the following sites:

  • Larkin Village (Lois Place)
  • Fairview Complex
  • Evergreen Terrace
  • Desplaines Complex
  • Bellarmine Complex

The study showed that violent crime fluctuated at each complex to varying degrees over the time span reviewed. Chief Brian Benton noted that “city-wide violent crime per capita has gradually decreased since 2000”. He stated, “We continue to concentrate our resources on targeted crime hot spots throughout the city and prioritize the quality of life for all of our residents equally.”

Only Uniform Crime Reported (UCR) data for Homicide, Criminal Sexual Assault, Aggravated Battery, Robbery and Aggravated Assault was included in the study which is available online at the Joliet Police Department website at
